Après avoir été surpris en train de jouer nu avec une fillette de son age, Gil, un enfant d'une dizaine d'années, est interné dans un hôpital psychiatrique pour mineurs de la France des années 1950.
Il raconte au Dr Edouard Valmont son conflit avec l'autorité et sa forte relation avec Jessica, sa camarade de classe. Le médecin développe amitié et confiance avec Gil, malgré sa hiérarchie qui tente de l'en empêcher.
The potentially negative effects of using archaic and strict methods of dealing the children the main theme of this French film which is set in 1950. While it's story of two youngsters in love, it also explores romance and sexuality in children. It is told from their viewpoint. Gil and Jessica are two eccentric and imaginative children in love. Worried that their love is unhealthy, the surrounding adults subject the kids to two differing approaches to modify their 'unnatural behavior.' Dr. Nevele offers the traditional, stern methodology. Edouart offers a more permissive approach.
